Yesterday, last night, and this morning have been just amazing because of the one day fast! I REALLY needed a break from food. It’s funny–even on raw foods we can develop a that hazy/lazy/tired feeling again after a while and forget what feeling good TRULY feels like. Even right now, I am in that place and I am appreciating every second of it. I feel so clear minded, sharp, awake and alert, it’s crazy. I feel like I’ve been at my climax of energy all day. Detoxing is such a wonderful tool to help us get back to that place, or status quo, of absolute clarity and peak energy. It’s also a great tool to re-establish a healthy relationship with food, with your feelings and intuition, and true priorities, values, and goals. It makes the “bizarro” world seem a lot more “bizarro” too!
I had one of my most productive days I’ve had in weeks yesterday. David Wolfe was right to talk about fasting in his Chapter entitled “Fasting for Time Management.” After work this is what I did: did yoga, went to Target to return and buy some things, drove home and caught up with some California friends over the phone, went grocery shopping, went to the library, made and drank some juice, straightened up and cleaned my entire apartment, took out some clothes for fall and put away some summer clothes, checked e-mail and read some articles online and then MADE myself go to bed at 12:15! Whew! I was asleep minutes after I hit the pillow too which usually doesn’t happen. AND I didn’t wake up until the alarm went off–which NEVER happens. I broke the fast with some plums at 10am and still feel great. I feel more connected and in tune with my source energy now and remember that it’s not really food that fuels me primarily at all. I’m so grateful for this feeling and grateful I am realizing I do not want to let this feeling escape me again! The one day fasts are coming back!
Looking forward to seeing Victoria Boutenko speak tomorrow afternoon and getting together with tons of like-minded people at the after-party potluck tomorrow :)
Have the best weekend ever,
~Lenette
